Waterproofs: KEEPING DRY AND STAYING WARM

Introduction: Memories of Keeping Dry and Staying warm or maybe not?

Waterproofs no longer working? Frozen fingers, feet like wooden planks, icy beard, frosted nose

The agony of hot aches when thawing out: you were too scared to go into the warm?
Soaked to the skin in a freezing wind, scared of the onslaught of hypothermia, not easy to forget?
Ever shivered all night in an unplanned bivouac, knowing that you mustn’t go to sleep in case you you never woke up?

Sound familiar? Then this is the book for you!

BUT WHAT MAKES THIS BOOK DIFFERENT AND DISTINCTIVE FROM EVERYTHING ELSE AVAILABLE?

Our mission is to produce eBooks and related training systems, independently of brands, for the broader outdoor community, whether enthusiasts, instructors, sales or design, retail or manufacturing.

Totally inclusive, it covers fibres, textiles, products, physiology, layering and usage techniques to ensure waterproofs function as they should. Have a look at this video clip to get a feel.

Declaration by Mike Parsons:

“in years past I have been the owner of 2 well known outdoor brands and have been as guilty as any of creating new words and explanations. This book has grown from my passion to pass on my knowledge of the basic principles, for the benefit of the next generation. However this would not have been possible without the help and support of my wide range of contacts throughout the manufacturing and retail sectors of the outdoor industry, for which many thanks.”

We are addressing  an identified training gap in the outdoor industry by complementing existing training.

WE LOOK AT KEEPING DRY AND STAYING WARM ON 7 CONTINENTS AND ACROSS 7 ACTIVITIES.

Instead of being single activity focused, as is the norm, we cover our subject very broadly, including the ‘why and how’ clothing works for the following activities:

Multi Activity

  1. Backpacking and walking
  2. Climbing
  3. Mountaineering
  4. Ski touring/ski mountaineering
  5. Mountain and road biking
  6. Rafting and sea kayaking
  7. Adventure racing and fell running

Unlike existing books which are usually single activity focused, eg Alpinism or Backpacking, we cover our subject very broadly, including the ‘why and how’ clothing works for the following activities in ways applicable on all 7 Continents.
